During his keynote speech today at Game Developers Conference ’11, Nintendo President and CEO Satoru Iwata has confirmed that the company is currently planning a special project for The Legend of Zelda series, which this year celebrates its 25th anniversary since it first launched in Japan in 1986.

Whilst particularly vague in regards to what this would involve, Iwata commented that Shigeru Miyamoto was “working on a plan allowing all Legend Of Zelda lovers to celebrate this together.”

Of course, Nintendo are already set to release The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D for Nintendo 3DS, and The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword for Wii this year, yet it is clear that they are sure to be keeping further surprises up their sleeve.

We’re sure that all will be revealed at this year’s E3 event, held between 7-9th June.
