Nintendo confirm Pikmin 3 set for E3 2012 appearance

Further to news earlier that Nintendo will show a new Super Mario Bros. game at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in June, it has now been confirmed that the latest Pikmin instalment will also be presented at long last.

The existence of Pikmin 3 has been known since Shigeru Miyamoto teased its existence back at E3 2008.

It was previously being developed for Wii, yet, during E3 2011 it emerged that the project had since moved across to Wii U to make use of high-definition visuals.

Nintendo’s confirmation of its E3 2012 appearance was prompted following Miyamoto mentioning the forthcoming release within an interview with Spanish newspaper El Mundo.

“In a recent interview, Mr. Miyamoto confirmed that a new Pikmin game will be shown at the E3 Expo in June”, a Nintendo spokesperson confirmed to Kotaku.

“He believes that anyone who has played Pikmin games in the past will enjoy playing.”
