Nintendo confirm new Zelda game in development

Eiji Aonuma

The Legend of Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma has confirmed that Nintendo have begun development on the next entry within the franchise.

Such news was unveiled within the Hyrule Historia book, where Aonuma stated that feedback from fans regarding The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword would have an impact on the new title which has “already set sail”.

“The long sailing time of creating Skyward Sword, a game to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Zelda series, has just come to an end”, Aonuma began. “The voices of those who’ve played it from around the world reach us. We hear their admiration, comments and their criticism too. All those voices become energy for the next voyage. Well, to tell the truth, we’ve already set sail in a new voyage.”

Whilst details as to whether this was being developed for Wii U or Nintendo 3DS is unknown, yet Aonuma previously stated during an interview back in November that a Nintendo 3DS entry was underway.
