Nintendo claim entire top ten in Japanese software chart

At a time where Nintendo are being downtrodden by the media, last week’s sales across Japan could be deemed a triumphant revival for the company.

Whilst the Nintendo 3DS continues to gain more traction in the west, nine out of the top 10 charting software titles were on the handheld, with the tenth being Pikmin 3 on Wii U.

Both the 3DS and 3DS XL combined achieved strong sales of 70,997 units, with the PS Vita picking up steam behind them with 19,363.

The top ten software chart is below, alongside last week’s sales figures:
1. Disney Magic Castle: My Happy Life, Namco Bandai – 41,679 (Nintendo 3DS)
2. Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, Nintendo – 39,809 (Nintendo 3DS)
3. Tomodachi Collection: New Life, Nintendo – 28,361 (Nintendo 3DS)
4. One Piece: Romance Dawn, Namco Bandai – 15,711 (Nintendo 3DS)
5. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies, Capcom – 13,447 (Nintendo 3DS)
6. Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Nintendo – 13,222 (Nintendo 3DS)
7. Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon, Nintendo – 12,501 (Nintendo 3DS)
8. Yokai Watch, LEVEL-5 – 11,133 (Nintendo 3DS)
9. Pikmin 3, Nintendo – 10,956 (Wii U)
10. Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D, Nintendo – 10,322 (Nintendo 3DS)

Meanwhile, the hardware sales chart is as below:

3. PlayStation Vita – 19,363
4. PlayStation 3 – 14,331
