In an interview with Nikkei, summarised by Kantan Games CEO Dr. Serkan Toto, Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima shared the company’s expectation that the console will sell as well as the Wii.
That is thanks in part to the fact that Nintendo Switch presents a unique way to play games, a differentiated approach to Sony and Microsoft who continue to pursue more powerful machines with PlayStation 4 Pro and Project Scorpio.
Many will still see that as a bold assertion given that Wii has not only sold 101.63 million units worldwide, but that, in an increasingly competitive market, neither Wii U and Nintendo 3DS have matched the milestones achieved by their predecessors.
Nintendo Switch will launch worldwide on Friday 3rd February, priced at £279.99 ($299.99).
2) [Very bold statement: the Wii sold 101 million times.] He says that just like the Wii, the Switch offers a unique way of playing games.
