Nintendo announce Flipnote Studio 3D

Within a ‘Chotto Nintendo Direct’ this morning, Nintendo have confirmed plans to release the Flipnote Studio 3D animation tool.

Building upon its Nintendo DS predecessor, this new version will support stereoscopic 3D imagery with up to three layers of depth, artists also able to use up to six colours within their creations.

Animations may be exported in either AVI or GIF format, and may be shared with friends registered through your Nintendo 3DS for free.

You’ll also be able to post them online through the Hatena World Flipnote Gallery, although users will be charged for this. Whilst you can initially claim a free 30-day trial, afterwards you will have to pay a small fee to continue use of the service.

Flipnote Studio 3D will release across Japan through the Nintendo eShop this summer.
