Nintendo advertise Wii U through Wii message service

Nintendo have finally engaged in a spot of free advertising, promoting the Wii U through the Wii’s decrepit messaging service.

“It’s time to discover Wii U,” the message proclaims, before moving on to reiterate that the console is “not just an upgrade – it’s an entirely new system that will change the way you and your family experience games and entertainment.”

Since launch the company has admitted that they have found it hard to explain the console’s benefits through their marketing activities, revealing their belief that many consumers still believe the Wii U GamePad is an add-on for the original console.
