The Nintendo 3DS is currently set to surpass four million sales within Japan before the end of the year, Nikkei reports.
Enterbrain, a Japanese sales tracker, states that during the third week of December the handheld achieved sales of 390,000 units, hitting a life-to-date figure of 3.6 million in Japan currently. A further two weeks left within the year will surely see the handheld reach the 4 million milestone.
During a previous interview with Nikkei, Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata stated that the company expected the Nintendo 3DS would reach 4 million units by February 2012, so they are sure to be pleased by the current sales boom.
