The latest Japanese sales figures have been released by Media Create, showing that sales of Sony’s PSP have once again surpassed that of Nintendo’s latest handheld, the Nintendo 3DS.
Whilst all systems within the hardware chart saw a notable sales boost, the PSP managed to outperform the Nintendo 3DS by over 48,000 units. Next week will prove particularly interesting as Japan will enjoy its Golden Week public holiday.
It would seem more important than ever that Nintendo begin to stimulate hardware sales by releasing stronger software.
Here is the full Media Create hardware chart covering April 25 through May 1, with the previous week’s sales figures in brackets:
1. PSP: 76,974 (49,162)
2. 3DS: 28,413 (23,038)
3. PS3: 23,954 (19,033)
