The Nintendo 3DS celebrated strong sales throughout the holiday season across North America, selling more than 1.25 million units in December alone.
This has allowed it to cross an install base of 7.7 million units across the country, such figures confirmed by the NPD Group, whose growth Nintendo comments “continues to outpace the historic sales rate of Nintendo DS.”
Such success can only prove an encouragement, with New Super Mario Bros. 2 also becoming the fourth Nintendo 3DS title to surpass 1 million units. The Nintendo 3DS release now sits at over 1.45 million copies sold to date.
