Dotemu and The Game Kitchen have confirmed a release date for Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound, which is coming to Nintendo Switch.
With Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound, the developer has looked to channel the classic and modern Ninja Gaiden trilogies from Koei Tecmo Games in this 2D side-scrolling action-platformer, which stars new hero Kenji Mozu.
The game’s story picks up in Hayabusa Village after Ryu Hayabusa heads to America to avenge his father’s death, as seen in Ninja Gaiden on the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES).
When the veil between the human and demon worlds is suddenly torn, a doorway to darkness opens in Hayabusa Village. It falls to Kenji Mozu, a young ninja of the Hayabusa clan, to throw himself into battle to protect his village and its people from the emerging demonic threat.
The destinies of Kenji and Kumori intertwine as they overcome the generational grudges of their clans. Their only way to survive is to use the forbidden power that merges Kumori’s spirit with Kenji’s. Bound together by their shared fate of soul and skill, their journey will require them to skillfully wield their fusion, “Ninja Fusion,” to maximise the talents of both Ninjas.
It is promised that the game’s side-scrolling action will be immediately welcoming to newcomers “while offering a steep, rewarding sense of difficulty and intricate technical depth that will challenge the blade of even a seasoned ninja.”
With showstopping fights against powerful, boss-calibre behemoths, you can expect to have the chance to upgrade your abilities, recover hidden collectible, tackle optional mission objectives and more.
Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound will be released digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide on 31 July 2025.
