With PAX West 2016 little over a week away, Nintendo of America has shared their plans for the enormously popular gaming expo. Their lineup promises RPGs, indie games, and lots of fun, looking to showcase new and upcoming content on Wii U and Nintendo 3DS.
In short, Nintendo will have two booths: one with Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon activities and playable games like Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past and Yo-kai Watch 2; while the other will be dedicated to Nindie games such as Punch Club (tiny Build Games), Runbow Pocket (13AM Games), Severed (Drinkbox Studios), and World to the West (Rain Games).
Their plans will start with Nindies@Night, an event that will be once again held at Seattle’s EMP Museum. This free event is open to the public, and will run between 8pm – 12am on Thursday 1st September. Giveaways and prizes will be available, while attendees can check out EMP’s Indie Game Revolution exhibit which has recently added some Nindie titles.
Playable games at Nindies@Night on Wii U will include Axiom Verge (Thomas Happ Games), Jotun: Valhalla Edition (Thunder Lotus Games), Shantae Half-Genie Hero (WayForward/XSEED), Severed (Drinkbox Studios), World to the West (Rain Games), FAST Racing NEO – NEO Future Pack (Shin’en), and SteamWorld Heist (Image & Form), whereas those on Nintendo 3DS will be Runbow Pocket (13AM Games), Punch Club (tiny Build Games), Severed (Drinkbox Studios), Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 (INTI CREATES), Noitu Love: Devolution (MP2 Games), and Gurumin: A Monsterous Adventure (Mastiff).
For those that can’t attend, the same playable games will be available at PAX West in the convention center on the sixth floor in Room 612. This will be open between 12 – 9pm on Friday – Sunday and 12 – 6pm on Monday, with developers on hand to demonstrate their games and answer questions.
The Nintendo booth (South Hall, Booth No. 2335) will have amiibo and the Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition on display, while Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past and Yo-kai Watch 2 will be playable. A Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon photo booth will let you take snaps with the legendary Pokémon Solgaleo and Lunala, with those that pre-order either Nintendo 3DS exclusive to receive a collectible gift.
Wrapping up their plans is a Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past developer discussion, which will take place in the Hydra Theater at 1.30pm on Sunday 4th September.
“PAX West gives Nintendo a great opportunity to showcase both mainstream and Nindie titles to a video game savvy audience,” said Nintendo of America’s senior vice president of sales and marketing Doug Bowser. “Having the show essentially in Nintendo’s backyard and getting a chance to connect with our fans makes it all the more special for us.”
PAX West 2016 will take place at the Washington State Convention Center in Seattle between Friday 2nd – Monday 5th September 2016.
