Niantic Kids Helps Parents Keep Their Children’s Pokémon GO Information Safe

Niantic has announced Niantic Kids, a new log-in platform powered by SuperAwesome that can be used with Pokémon GO.

Once it becomes available, parents will be able to register to use a parent portal where they can manage their child’s privacy.

That will let you review and approve your child’s permissions before they can play, as well as providing options that allow you to control the personal information shared in Pokémon GO.

Niantic Kids has been developed in conjunction with SuperAwesome’s Kids Web Services, a service certified by ESRB Privacy Certified and by the kidSAFE Seal Program, letting you make sure that your child’s information remains secure.

For those using the Pokémon Trainer Club to access Pokémon GO, this log-in will still be supported alongside Niantic Kids.

  1. Do we know if we will be able to switch the kids’ account to the new platform? Otherwise, this feels too little too late for the little ones.

  2. Nope they are forcing you to start over. Of which won’t matter anyways they are going to still restrict features on kids accounts. This whole thing is looking like nothing more than a marketing ploy.

    This is from Niantic.

    Hello Trainer,

Thank you for contacting Pokémon GO support.

Sorry to hear about the trouble you are facing.

We want you to know that Niantic Kids is a feature that aims at providing a secure login to children below 13 years of age. This feature functions very similarly to a PTC child account. As with PTC child accounts, the Niantic Kids accounts will also remain constrained by the limited availability of features. Friends and Trading will still remain locked with the Niantic Kids accounts.

Also, having an active PTC child account will not let the PTC users merge their proceedings with a Niantic Kids account. Once you sign up and create an account with Niantic Kids, it will be a fresh start with Pokémon GO too.
