Game publishers have made a notable shift toward smartphone development within recent years, and Square Enix are no different.
Whilst Dragon Quest series creator Yuji Horii has already revealed that work has begun on the next title, he has now indicated that he wants to be “more aggressive” and create something with a broader scope than that which would be possible on smartphones. That isn’t to say he isn’t appreciative of how mainstream such devices have become, but he’s dismissed the platform for now.
We still have no firm details as to platforms, or precisely whether that will see it release on either Wii U or Nintendo 3DS, but we’ll hopefully learn more at E3 2014 or beyond.
