Headup and Devespresso Games have released the second in a three-part video series that explores Vambrace: Cold Soul, this time focusing on the turn-based combat system.

Once you have assembled your party, you will set out on a dangerous expedition. This will soon see you encounter enemies such as wraiths, mad survivors, cultists, and, most dangerous of all, Shades.

In battle, characters can perform one action per turn whether that be individually ranged attacks, defense, skip, or flourish attacks – the last option depending on the character’s class and the relics that are equipped.

Vambrace: Cold Soul is a roguelike single-player gothic fantasy adventure weaves the handcrafted illustrations of Korean artist Minho Kim with a narrative from American writer and game designer, T.L. Riven.

The King of Shades has cursed the great city of Icenaire. Now under a permanent blight of frost fall, the residents have returned from the dead as mad Wraiths. Survivors take refuge deep underground where they are woefully outmatched to deal with this unearthly power.

With the King amassing an army of the undead above them, it is Evelia Lyric, bearer of the Aetherbrace, who becomes their only hope for salvation. Coming to rely on multi-class party building mechanics, you must choose who will lend their strengths to your cause.

Perceptive allies could detect traps that have been set to hinder your expeditions, while fighters and magic wielders can help fell your enemies. The surface of Icenaire is cold and unforgiving, and you will need to make use of every advantage to survive.

Vambrace: Cold Soul will release on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide in Q3 2019.
