New trailer for Monolith Soft’s X shows battle mechanics


We’re were given a further look at Monolith Soft’s X last night, with Nintendo’s Satoru Iwata sharing new battle footage from the Wii U exclusive currently in development.

This battle scene, in which the party wrestles with a wild beast, is the lengthiest, continuous clip that we have seen for the rather luscious JRPG, fuelling further excitement for the game’s eventual release.

Game director Tetsuya Takahashi revealed that the battle system is largely based on that seen in Wii’s Xenoblade Chronicles, although has seen more refinement here. If the mid-battle hop into a towering mech isn’t enough to excite you, I’m not sure what will.

Iwata promised that more updates would be shared about the game in the future, although it is expected to release in 2014.
