Bandai Namco Entertainment has shared a new trailer for Towa and The Guardians of The Sacred Tree, which is coming to Nintendo Switch.
This “Towa Talk” video explores everything that you can see and do in Shinju Village, from having a hearty meal or forging your own sword at the blacksmith to training at the dojo or relaxing at the hot spring.
From developer Brownies, this 2D isometric roguelite is set in distant lands where the tranquil Shinju village becomes threatened by the evil Magatsu’s quest for domination. Priestess Towa stands united with her eight trustworthy companions to defeat Magatsu and his evil minions.
Promising “engaging gameplay with fast-paced action, gorgeous hand-drawn style characters, stunning painterly scenery, and a unique soundtrack by legendary composer Hitoshi Sakimoto,” these come together to create a colourful world where “visually peaceful splendour belies a lurking threat” and courage is the only way forward.
You will choose two Guardians for each quest – one Guardian will wield the power of a sacred sword called Tsurugi, and the other will bear the magical staff Kagura. Each Guardian has unique skillsets that can be unlocked and upgraded both inside dungeons and through a meta-progression in Shinju Village’s hub world.
Crafting materials can be used to forge and upgrade your Guardian’s swords, and, as they pursue their quests across different timelines, Shinju Village will evolve over the years. You can develop unique bonds with residents and learn more about their customs and stories.
Towa and The Guardians of The Sacred Tree will be released digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide on 19 September 2025.
