The Pokémon Company has released a new video for Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield, in which game director Shigeru Ohmori explores a new town in the Galar region.

“We’re putting everything into developing these games, so I’m sorry we aren’t able to visit gamescom this year. But to all the Pokémon fans anticipating these new titles, we’d like to show some new scenes from a town in the Galar region,” Ohmori explains.

“This is one of the towns you’ll visit in Galar. This is the Pokémon Research Lab. Here, Professor Magnolia researches the Dynamax phenomenon.

“There’s also a railway station in this town. We’ve already introduced the Flying Taxi service, in which the Galarian Pokémon Corviknight carries people between towns, but that’s not the only way to get around Galar! These stations are all over the region, used by all sorts of people as transport for both commuting, and travelling for pleasure.

“The Pokémon Centers in Galar look like this on the outside. They’re different to those in other regions, but series fans will recognise the design as a Pokémon Center right away.

“There’s also a store selling fresh produce, and a clothes boutique. Boutiques can be found in several towns and cities in Galar, so make sure to drop by and check out the latest fashion trends.

“In Galar, people and Pokémon have worked together to build thriving industries. Pokémon around towns and cities live in harmony together with humans. On top of the town we’ve shown today, there are many areas of Galar where you’ll find beautiful natural environments. They’re waiting for you to discover them!”

In Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield, you will choose between three starter Pokémon – Grookey, Scorbunny, and Sobble – before having the chance to explore the Galar region – with its idyllic countryside, contemporary cities, thick forests, and craggy, snow-covered mountains. Challenging the Gyms in the region, you will once again look to become Champion.

Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield will release exclusively for Nintendo Switch worldwide on November 15th.
