Square Enix has released a new Octopath Traveler trailer that introduces Cyrus the Scholar, Ophilia the Cleric and Talents.

Cyrus the Scholar sets off on a journey in search of a lost tome that may hold ancient mysteries. His unique Path Action is Scrutinize, which he can use to extract useful information from the people that he encounters, gain insight into someone, or uncover secrets and evidence to solve mysteries.

As a servant of the Order of the Sacred Flame, Ophilia the Cleric sets off on a pilgrimage to restore light to the realm. Her Path Action is Guide, which lets her take people along with her and lead them to where they are needed most. That could see you reunite a lost child with his mother or set up unexpected encounters.

The trailer has also revealed that each character has their own Talent. Cyrus can use Study Foe to learn an enemy’s weakness, Olberic can enter Bolster Defense when defending, Alfyn can Concoct potions to heal allies whereas H’aanit can Capture and tame beasts to then use them against your enemies.

Meanwhile, Tressa can use Eye for Money to make your party wealthier just by walking around and Therion can use Pick Lock to open special treasure chests. And then, Ophilia can Summon people that she’s guiding to the battlefield and Primrose can do the same – letting you have up to six people fighting at the same time in battle.

You will start Octopath Traveler with a single protagonist of your choice, but you will be able to meet the remaining seven as you travel the world. You can have four characters in your party at any time that can be swapped in any tavern, and the trailer also confirms that you will be able to see every character’s story in a single playthrough, too.

Octopath Traveler will release exclusively for Nintendo Switch worldwide on July 13th.
