Nintendo has spoken about how Nintendo 3DS is still seen as an important “business driver” for the company, but, unlike last year, no new games were announced for the ageing handheld at E3 2018.

That’s not to say that more first-party games aren’t in development, with Nintendo of America president and chief operating officer Reggie Fils-Aime sharing that they will be announced “over the next number of months.”

“We’re going to continue [focusing on the 3DS], we’re going to continue to have some new games on that platform,” Fils-Aime explained to IGN.

“We’re going to announce [them], and we will over the next number of months, but it’s going to continue to be a vibrant piece of our overall business, certainly here in the Americas.”

With Dillon’s Dead-Heat Breakers and Sushi Striker: Way of the Sushido now out around the world, Nintendo still has Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, WarioWare Gold, Luigi’s Mansion and Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story + Bowser Jr.’s Journey scheduled for release on the handheld.

  1. Oh, please, even Nintendo’s own financial report shows them expecting like a 75% drop in software sales this year compared to last, so clearly the 3DS’s life is over.
