Maze Theory has announced that a new Doctor Who game is in development for Nintendo Switch.

This comes after Doctor Who: The Edge of Time, a virtual reality adventure through space and time that was released for PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift, Oculus Quest, HTC Vive and Vive Cosmos devices back in November 2019.

Thanks to an investment from the UK Creative Content EIS Fund in association with the British Film Institute (BFI), the next game is in development alongside a “horror and sci-fi mobile phone takeover game” that is being created in partnership with Kaigan Games.

The three games combine to “create a trilogy of experiences,” with the upcoming game bound for the portable home console promising “new adventures, new game mechanics, intriguing subplots and iconic features such as the TARDIS, terrifying Weeping Angels, imposing Daleks and – of course – the chance to collude with the Doctor herself.”

This untitled Doctor Who game will release on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide in early 2021.
