Netflix has announced that you will soon no longer be able to use the video streaming service on Wii, ending its support for the popular console in January 2019.

“Unfortunately, Nintendo will suspend all video streaming services on Wii – including the Netflix Channel – after January 31, 2019,” Netflix explained in an email to subscribers.

“We hope you’ll soon enjoy an even better Netflix experience with additional features on a supported device. Please visit netflix.com/wii for our device list.”

It becomes the last streaming service to call time on Wii, with services like BBC iPlayer and YouTube having ended their support in 2017 to phase out their availability on legacy devices.

But while YouTube became available on Nintendo Switch this week, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are your only alternatives to use Netflix on a console at this point in time. Netflix was “still exploring” whether they could support the portable home console, but it remains unclear if or when it will arrive.
