It has been a few months since Netflix announced that a Castlevania animated series would come to the streaming service this year, and, now, we can take a first look at it in a new trailer.
Adapted from Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse, the series will trace “the last surviving member of the disgraced Belmont clan, trying to save Eastern Europe from extinction at the hand of Vlad Dracula Tepe himself.”
The trailer explains that a darkness stalks the land, and that a saviour is needed to restore balance to the world. It is the Belmont family that have been entrusted with the duty of slaying Count Dracula since the ninth century, and, as is implied, that will be the narrative that the series will continue to tread.
The first season will become available on Netflix on July 7th, with producer Adi Shankar having mentioned that a second season will follow in 2018.
