Namco Bandai and Paramount Pictures are “exploring” the opportunity to bring their forthcoming Star Trek game to Wii U.

“We are exploring right now all of our options to get on the platforms that make sense. It’s early,” Brian Miller, senior vice president and producer at Paramount Pictures, explained to IGN.

“Good thing we have a lot of time to figure that out, and over the next few months we’ll be able to announce a few more things.”

Star Trek is currently being developed by Digital Extremes, and will feature an original story penned by BAFTA award winner and God of War writer, Marianne Krawczyk, that is set after the events of the 2009 blockbuster reboot.

It has been built from the ground up as a co-op experience, and casts players in the role of Captain Kirk and Spock for the first time ever.

Star Trek is due to release in Q1 2013.
