The Pokémon Company International has revealed Meltan, a new Mythical Pokémon that will appear in Pokémon Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon Let’s Go, Eevee!.

This brand new species of Pokémon remains an enigma, but it is a Steel-type Pokémon that is categorised as the Hex Nut Pokémon.

It had caused widespread confusion after it suddenly appeared in Pokémon GO over the weekend, and, while sightings have significantly decreased, Meltan will still appear in different areas.

It has also been revealed that Pokémon GO will be key to meeting Meltan in Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee!, although The Pokémon Company International hasn’t shared any more details at this point in time.

“Most of Meltan’s body is made from liquid metal, and its shape is very fluid. It can use its liquid arms and legs to corrode metal and absorb it into its own body,” The Pokémon Company International explains.

“Meltan generates electricity using the metal it absorbs from outside sources. It uses this electricity as an energy source and also as an attack that can be fired from its eye. Clearly a curious Pokémon, Meltan is very expressive and shows an interest in all kinds of things.”

Continuing to show the crossover between the Nintendo Switch exclusives and Pokémon GO, Professor Oak and Professor Willow will soon team up to research Meltan.

Pokémon Let’s GO, Pikachu! and Pokémon Let’s GO, Eevee! will release exclusively for Nintendo Switch worldwide on November 16th.
