Three years on since Mutant Mudds launched, Renegade Kid have announced that they will shortly test the skills of “super players” who successfully reached the game’s conclusion.
Mutant Mudds Super Challenge forgoes any difficulty curve, delivering 40 levels that pick up after Max received intel revealing the location of the original meteor impact site – from which Mutant Mudds are still spawning.
Taking inspiration from Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels, Mutant Mudds Super Challenge will boast new level art themes across five worlds, new chiptunes from composer Troupe Gammage, and trickier level designs that will encompass new features such as secret pathways that hide pick-ups.
“I am super excited about Mutant Mudds Super Challenge, and I hope fans of the original game are excited too,” creator Jools Watsham wrote in Nintendo Force. “This is a game that does not cater to the every-player. It is designed specifically for the players who love Mutant Mudds and want a new experience that they can really sink their teeth into.”
Mutant Mudds Super Challenge will release exclusively for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS in 2015.
