The Pokémon Company has confirmed that you will have to use motion controls to catch Pokémon in Pokémon Let’s GO, Pikachu! and Pokémon Let’s GO, Eevee!.

That’s because, whether you are playing on the portable home console in Handheld Mode or TV Mode, you will need to use the accelerometer and gyroscope in each Joy-Con to aim at the Pokémon that you want to add to your Pokédex. And then, once your throw is lined up, you will simply need to hit a button to hurl it in their direction.

“In handheld mode with both Joy-Con attached – you are still required to move around to aim, but you press a button to throw the Pokéball,” a representative from The Pokémon Company explained to Eurogamer. “It is not touch screen like on a smartphone because the Switch is quite a bit heavier than your smart phone.”

Pokémon Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon Let’s Go, Eevee! will release exclusively for Nintendo Switch worldwide on November 16th.
