Mother 3 Localisation Rumours Resurface

Mother 3 may have been the butt of a Robot Chicken joke in E3 2014’s Nintendo Digital Event, but rumours resurface that Nintendo has been hard at work localising the Japan-only Game Boy Advance title.

Mother 3’s narrative is told in eight chapters, largely revolving around the marauding Pig Mask Army who start a forest fire and invade Tazmily Village. Revered by critics, it has often been lamented that Nintendo never treated to the game to an international release. That decision led to an unofficial English fan translation being penned, but it seems the company are preparing to correct their mistake.

Emily Rogers, who recently indicated that Intelligent Systems are working on Paper Mario for Wii U, has teased that Nintendo are to mark an undisclosed game’s 10th anniversary this year. Looking back at what Nintendo released in 2006, there aren’t any other likely candidates.

In a since deleted tweet, Rogers wrote: “One last thing before I vanish: Don’t be surprised if Nintendo celebrates a game’s 10th anniversary this year… Just some food for thought.”

At E3 2015, Nintendo surprised fans by announcing that Mother would be released outside Japan for the first time as EarthBound Beginnings on Wii U’s Virtual Console service.
