Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and NetherRealm Studios have announced that Mortal Kombat 11 will release on Nintendo Switch.

Revealed at The Game Awards 2018 for the first time, the game uses a new graphics engine that will showcase every skull-shattering, eye-popping moment to bring you as close to the fight as possible.

With a character roster of new and returning Klassic Fighters, the cinematic story mode will continue the epic saga that has been more than 25 years in the making. There will also be new Custom Character Variations that will let you customise characters to make them your own.

“It’s exciting to finally announce Mortal Kombat 11 and showcase what the team has been working on,” explains NetherRealm Studios creative director Ed Boon.

“Our Custom Character Variation System opens up an infinite amount of options for players to personalize their favorite fighters. We can’t wait until January when we’ll be showing more of the game.”

Mortal Kombat 11 will release on Nintendo Switch on April 23rd, with a community reveal event set to take place on January 17th.
