Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and NetherRealm Studios have revealed Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath, a new expansion for the bloodthirsty fighting game.

This will continue the story campaign’s epic saga with a new “cinematic narrative centred around trust and deceit.” As the new keeper of time and protector of Earthrealm, Liu Kang must enlist the help of unlikely allies and familiar foes to forge a new history as the fate of two worlds hangs in the balance.

The paid expansion will add three new characters in Fujin, the God of Wind who serves as Earthrealm’s protector alongside his brother Raiden, Sheeva, the four-armed, half-human and half-dragon queen of the ancient Shokan race, and RoboCop.

The iconic and highly advanced cybernetic police officer makes an appearance as a guest fighter, featuring actor Peter Weller’s voice and likeness who portrayed the character in the original RoboCop (1987) and RoboCop 2 (1990) movies.

There will also be a free content update that will add new Stages in the Klassic Dead Pool and Soul Chamber arenas, Stage Fatalities and Friendships.

“Our fans have really enjoyed the story campaign in Mortal Kombat, and we’re happy to continue the narrative and add new characters to the roster with Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath,” explains NetherRealm Studios creative director Ed Boon.

“In addition, Friendships and Stage Fatalities are being added as part of the free content update for all Mortal Kombat 11 players. Both are fan-favourite features that we’re excited to finally bring back to the franchise.”

The Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath Kollection (£49.99 / €59.99) will bundle the base game with the expansion and Kombat Pack. Whereas those that already own the game can buy the Mortal Kombat 11 Aftermath expansion (£34.99 / €39.99) or the Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath + Kombat Pack Bundle (£39.99 / €49.99).

Those that choose to pre-order the expansion on the Nintendo eShop will receive the Eternal Klash Skin Pack at launch. This will add three new character skin variants – “Unbound Rage” Scorpion inspired by Mortal Kombat (2011), “Son of Arctika” Sub-Zero inspired by Mortal Kombat: Deception and “Kori Power” Frost, a Klassic version of the Lin Kuei warrior.

Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath will release on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide on 26th May 2020.
