That, according to producer Yoshiaki Koizumi, will rely on whether they can come up with “a really cool idea” that is worth adding to the game.
“There’s a lot of volume [in Super Mario Odyssey]. That was a big focus in development: Give the player tons to do. We pushed ourselves to create as much as we could,” Koizumi explained to Game Informer.
“I can’t announce anything specifically today, but of course, if there was a really cool idea for us to do, then we would certainly be thinking about DLC.”
Luigi’s Balloon World will see players talk to hide balloons as mischievously as they can within a set time limit for other players to try to find. While the update will also add new outfits in the Sunshine Shades and Outfit, Musician Hat and Outfit, and Knight Helmet and Armor, as well as new filters for Snapshot Mode.
