Shochiku Games and Crossbridge Game Studios have confirmed a release window for Moomin: Midsummer Madness, which is in development for Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch.

The developer has taken inspiration from Tove Jansson’s Nordic fantasy novel Moominsummer Madness (1954) for this cosy point-and-click adventure, in which the Moomin family finds refuge in a mysterious floating theatre after an unexpected flood overtakes Moominvalley.

You will play as Moomintroll and Little My as they attempt to make their way home, deducing the solutions to light puzzles and befriending quirky characters in an experience that uses mesmerising hand-painted art that stays true to the original aesthetic.

The publisher has outlined the game’s key features, which include:

  • Faithful Story and New Episodes: Experience a blend of iconic moments from Moominsummer Madness and playful new narratives.
  • Beautiful Hand-Drawn Art: Vibrant graphics inspired by Tove Jansson’s original illustrations, detailing everything from the Moominhouse to the floating theatre.
  • Puzzles and Exploration for Everyone: Solve mysteries through dialogue, exploration, and mini-games. Includes a hint system so players of all ages can enjoy a relaxing experience.
  • Character Swapping: Switch between characters and use their unique traits to progress through the story.

Moomin: Midsummer Madness will be released digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch worldwide in Autumn 2026.
