Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin is out now, and, with that, many have wondered what content amiibo unlock within Capcom’s second entry to their turn-based RPG series set in the world of Monster Hunter.
The short answer is Layered Armor, but you are probably looking for more specific answers than that. Layered Armor has repeatedly appeared in the Monster Hunter series, and allows you to change your character’s appearance while keeping the effects of whichever armour you have equipped.
To scan an amiibo, you will need to head to a Prayer Pot found in any of the game’s Villages. There, you can select the option Use an amiibo, after which the game will prompt you to touch your amiibo to the NFC area on your controller.
Scanning any of the amiibo that were released to coincide with the original Monster Hunter Stories on Nintendo 3DS will unlock the Hakum Rider Outfit.
Whereas for the amiibo created for Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin, the Tsukino amiibo unlocks the Tsukino Onesie, the Ena amiibo unlocks Kyle’s Outfit (for male Riders) and Ena’s Outfit (for female Riders), and the Razewing Ratha amiibo unlocks Red’s Outfit.
You can easily change your appearance in any Village using the Chest in Your House. Here, you will see the Layered Armor which will let you choose to use the different outfits that you have unlocked.
That isn’t all that scanning an amiibo does, either. Once per amiibo each day, Tsukino can offer you her fortune-telling services. You will get an item – or multiple items – depending on what your fortune cookie reveals, whether that be a Half Moon, Full Moon or Crescent Moon.
Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin is now available at retail and on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide.
