Shigeru Miyamoto has shared his thoughts that whilst the PlayStation Vita is a technically accomplished device, Sony haven’t positioned software to accompany the system to ensure that it becomes “a very strong product.”

“It’s obviously a very hi-spec machine, and you can do lots of things with it,” Miyamoto discussed with EDGE. “But I don’t really see the combination of software and hardware that really makes a very strong product.”

“I’m not looking at Vita as happy that it’s not selling well, or scared that it would sell well – I’m not look at Vita in that way,” he was keen to reiterate.

PlayStation Vita saw a strong launch across Japan, North America and Europe, yet sales have slumped due to a lack of software support, particularly in Japan, where the Wii and PlayStation Portable are outselling the system.
