Miyamoto awarded Asturias Prize

Last Friday saw the Prince of Asturias Prizes presentation ceremony take place in Spain, with legendary videogame designer Shigeru Miyamoto one of the recipients.

The awards ceremony was held at the Campoamor Theater in Oviedo, with Prince Felipe of Asturias and his wife Princess Letizia presiding. Queen Sofia of Spain was also in attendance throughout the ceremony.

Winners receive 50,000 euros ($64,000) each alongside a reproduction of a sculpture by Joan Miro, and are regarded as the Ibero-American equivalent of the Nobel Peace Prize.
