Mistwalker has announced that their tactical role-playing game Terra Battle has surpassed two million downloads, which, ahead of launch, saw them promise to develop a console version if it ever reached such milestone.

While more specific details will be shared at a later date, Mistwalker’s history in developing games for Xbox 360, Wii and Nintendo DS make us at least hopeful that Nintendo’s systems will form part of their plans – especially given the game’s touchscreen nature.

“We are truly humbled to see Terra Battle achieve this milestone, as every player download expanded both the scope of our game and our imagination to create a richer experience for the fans,” comments Mistwalker’s founder Hironobu Sakaguchi.

“With the console game of Terra Battle underway and the next phase of the Download Starter campaign in motion, we are eager to see how the game will evolve in the coming months.”

Sakaguchi was recently honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award at this year’s GDC Awards, taking time to film a comedy sketch with Mega64.

Terra Battle is currently available for iOS and Android devices, with the console version now in development.
