Mewtwo DLC for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U & 3DS releasing “pretty soon”

Super Smash Bros. series creator Masahiro Sakurai has revealed that the previously promised Mewtwo DLC will be releasing “pretty soon.”

Mewtwo was confirmed to be returning as a playable fighter in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS within a special presentation for the popular character brawler that Nintendo broadcast last October.

The Psychic-type Legendary Pokémon will be available freely as part of a promotion for those that have purchased both Wii U and Nintendo 3DS versions, or can otherwise be purchased separately at a later date for those that haven’t.

Sakurai, who made an appearance at a Japanese event, shared that work on the downloadable content is “pretty much done,” and that everyone should await an announcement from Nintendo. We can assume that this will be in their periodic Nintendo Direct – another sure to be incoming seeing as we last saw one way back in January.
