Elden Pixels and Decemberborn Interactive have announced that Cathedral will soon see release on Nintendo Switch.

Taking inspiration from classic NES and SNES games, it promises to deliver “an 8-bit audiovisual feast that has been created with contemporary Metroidvania game design principles.”

You wake up as a knight from a different world who has no recollection of how they even got there. Teaming up with a spirit known as Soul, you set out to search for answers – exploring more than 600 rooms across an interconnected world map.

Unravelling the secrets that surround the knight’s past will retrieve that you retrieve orbs left by an ancient demi-god known as Ardur. To make matters worse these are protected by five fearsome guardians that you will need to defeat.

“Cathedral has been a labour of love for us and we’re extremely excited to be able to partner with Elden Pixels to bring it to Nintendo Switch,” enthuses Decemberborn Interactive’s Eric Lavesson.

“We hope Nintendo fans enjoyed our trailer and are looking forward to discovering or reliving the past through a modern design lens. Stay tuned for a release date announcement as soon as we can share one!”

Cathedral will release on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide in 2020 priced at £11.99 ($14.99).
