Those that have pre-ordered the Metroid: Samus Returns Special Edition will soon discover a nice surprise within the Nintendo 3DS exclusive’s contents.

The Special Edition will include a physical copy of the game, a sound selection CD with 25 tracks from across the Metroid series, and, as Nintendo of America had announced, a reversible cover for the game case.

We can now see that reversible cover for the first time, that has seen the company recreate the box art for Game Boy classic Metroid II: Return of Samus – the game that the Nintendo 3DS exclusive has been based on to produce “a modern reimagining” that promises to have engaging and immersive 3D visuals as well as a rich, atmospheric colour palette.

In Europe, it is unclear whether the Metroid: Samus Returns Legacy Edition will have this. The contents are listed as a physical copy of the game, a download code for Metroid II: Return of Samus on the Nintendo eShop, a SteelBook case, a sound selection CD with 25 tracks from the Metroid series, a gold “S” pin badge, a Morph Ball 3D keyring and a 40-page artbook.

Metroid: Samus Returns will release exclusively for Nintendo 3DS worldwide on September 15th.
