Nintendo has shadow-dropped Metroid Prime Remastered on Nintendo Switch, news that was shared in this week’s Nintendo Direct presentation.

This has seen Retro Studios work to remaster Samus Aran’s critically-acclaimed, first-person adventure on GameCube with high-definition visuals, enhanced sound, unlockable art and updated control schemes.

You will have the chance to explore Tallon IV from the bounty hunter’s perspective, navigating the winding paths and interconnected environments of this alluring-yet-dangerous alien planet.

You will need to use Samus’ Arm Cannon to defeat otherworldly creatures like Space Pirates and the energy-sapping Metroids, unlocking access to new weaponry and abilities – such as her signature Morph Ball and Grapple Beam – to enter previously inaccessible areas.

The developer has added modern dual-stick controls to this version, allowing you to move around while separately changing your point of view, or you can choose to use intuitive motion aiming, revert to classic controls or a hybrid option.

Metroid Prime Remastered is now available digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide, with a physical version of the game to be released at retailers on 3rd March 2023.
