2K and Marvel Entertainment have shared a third Hero Spotlight trailer for Marvel’s Midnight Suns, presenting the chance for you to meet Doctor Strange.

“Stephen Strange started his career of saving lives in a very different way: as a world-renowned, but arrogant, brain surgeon. Tragically, he was forced to retire from medicine after a near-fatal car accident mangled the nerves in his hands. Unable to perform the precision work that had consumed his life, Stephen ultimately sought healing from the Ancient One, a mystical master of reality-bending magic,” the character description reads.

“Realizing that the Ancient One could not fix his hands, Strange instead poured himself into studying the arcane arts, and after years of tutelage under his mentor became as adept with sorcery as he had once been with surgery, becoming the Sorcerer Supreme. As Doctor Strange, Stephen now acts as a sage, occult advisor, and Master of the Mystic Arts, using otherworldly magic and ancient artifacts to protect the world from devastating arcane threats.”

Set in “the darker side of the Marvel Universe”, you will battle face-to-face against supernatural forces as you team up with and live among the Midnight Suns, who are Earth’s last line of defence against the underworld.

After centuries of slumber, the nefarious force known as Hydra has revived Lilith, Mother of Demons, who will stop at nothing to fulfil an ancient prophecy and summon her evil master, Chthon.

Pushed to the brink, the Avengers enlist the help of the Midnight Suns – Nico Minoru, Blade, Magik and Ghost Rider – young heroes with powers deeply rooted in the supernatural and a group that were formed to prevent the very prophecy Lilith aims to complete. They resurrect an ancient warrior, the Hunter, Lilith’s forsaken child and the only hero known to have ever defeated her.

From Civilization and XCOM series developer Firaxis Games, the game is promised to have “an iconic collection of heroes spanning The Avengers, X-Men, Runaways, and more,” who will engage in “cinematic tactical combat with a Super Hero flair” on an unforgettable adventure.

The publisher has outlined the game’s key features as below:

  • Unleash the Darker Side of Marvel. Rise up against Lilith and her underworld army as you experience a deeply personal story that puts you at its center as The Hunter, the first customizable original hero in the Marvel universe. In the face of fallen allies and the fate of the world at stake, it will be up to you to rise up against the darkness!;
  • Lead Heroes from Across the Marvel Universe. Fight fire with hellfire and lead an unlikely team of seasoned Super Heroes and dangerous supernatural warriors across The Avengers, X-Men, Runaways, and more. Resist Lilith’s corruption and confront Fallen versions of some of Marvel’s most iconic and powerful characters, including Venom, Sabretooth and even the Hulk!;
  • Fight, Think, and Live Like a Super Hero. From legendary studio Firaxis Games comes a deep tactical RPG where you fight and strategize like a Super Hero! Create the perfect squad and customize their abilities, unleashing skills and attacks to devastate the battlefield. Live the Super Hero life in the Abbey, your very own mystical secret base, and strengthen personal bonds outside the field of battle.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns will release for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC on 7th October 2022, and is coming to Nintendo Switch “at a later date.”
