The Pokémon Company and Game Freak have revealed that Max Raid Battles have been introduced as a new battle format in Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield.

This will see you team up with three other players to battle against a wild Dynamax Pokémon, that, once defeated, will reward you with the chance to catch it.

The wild Dynamax Pokémon remains in their giant form for the whole battle, whereas only one player in your team will be able to Dynamax a Pokémon in a Max Raid Battle.

Team work is the key to victory, with the chance to join other players over a local connection or online – which will require a Nintendo Switch Online subscription.

If three other Trainers aren’t available to participate, then support Trainers will be automatically be added to your side to help you out.

Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield will release exclusively for Nintendo Switch worldwide on November 15th.
