Nintendo have confirmed that Masterpieces, which first appeared in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, will make a return appearance in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.

These are free “cut-down versions” of classic games starring characters that populate the brawler’s bolstered roster, allowing those too young to remember to experience where their adventures began. Constrained by a time limit, those that enjoy what they’ve experienced can then turn to the Nintendo eShop to purchase the full game through the Nintendo eShop.

Games so far confirmed to be accessible include Balloon Trip, Donkey Kong, Dr. Mario, EarthBound, F-Zero, Kid Icarus, Kirby’s Adventure, Kirby’s Dream Land, Kirby Super Star, Mega Man 2, Metroid, PAC-MAN, Pilotwings, Punch-Out!!, Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 2, Super Mario Kart, Super Mario World, Super Metroid, The Legend of Zelda, Wrecking Crew and Zelda II: The Adventures of Link. Phew.

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U will release in North America on November 21st, and in Europe on December 5th.
