Freedom Games and KZ Games have announced that their “16-bit out-of-this-world greenhouse farming sim” Mars Base will release on Nintendo Switch next month.

You will set out on a mission of interstellar botany to terraform Mars with lush agriculture. Your challenge is to create a self-sustaining civilization of thriving crops that can withstand the harshest Martian elements.

Building and upgrading your home base with paved roads, crafting facilities, research labs, solar power plants and more, you will see your colony’s capabilities expand from one-person, low-yield manual labour to the point where your population can come to rely on modular planters, hydroponics and automated robots.

“Our catalogue has become known for invoking memories of the games we love with fresh approaches to design from a new generation,” explains Freedom Games director of publishing Benjamin Tarsa. “Mars Base explores not only our favourite Red Planet, but also what would a farming sim-like game would have looked like in the 16-bit era of games. We are calling all SpaceX fans, cause this game will likely be right up your galactic alley.”

Mars Base will release digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide on 8th December 2022.
