Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games may be exclusive to Wii U and Nintendo 3DS, but SEGA have announced that the sporting title will also be treated to an arcade release in Japan.

Location tests have taken place over the past weekend between Friday 17th – Monday 20th July at Club SEGA Akihabara and SEGA World Kasai, although it hasn’t been shared as to what the arcade version will incorporate.

As with previous iterations, the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS versions will differ in the playable sports that are available. Rugby and Golf are destined for handheld devices, whereas the console counterpart will have Football, Table Tennis and Beach Volleyball.
