In entirely expected news, this week’s Nintendo Direct Micro confirmed that Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games will see a western release.

Nintendo and SEGA’s characters will reignite their rivalries as they join in the fun at Rio de Janeiro, which will host the Olympic Games in August 2016.

The Wii U and Nintendo 3DS versions will have exclusive sports, seeing Rugby scrum together on console and Golf tee off on handheld. Other supercharged Olympic events include Football, Table Tennis and Beach Volleyball.

Nintendo promise to share more information in the near future, presumably at E3 2015.
