Today’s Nintendo 3DS Direct saw a string of new announcements from the company, which included a new Mario Party entry destined for the handheld later this year.

Whilst indicated as a distant winter release, plenty of chirpy gameplay footage was shown with Satoru Iwata confirming that it would feature several boards.

These each had unique ideas, seeing players opting to risk progression or taking cover, or collecting boosts that will traject you ahead of the pack from a losing position.

The Nintendo 3DS hardware is used in full force through mini-games, which will test speed, concentration, and luck, and makes use of either the touchscreen or AR Cards.
