Nintendo’s portly Italian plumber made his first leap into high definition in Wii U launch title New Super Mario Bros. U, but with NX on the horizon we’re wondering where Mario’s adventures will take him next.

3D artist Aryok ‘Aryoksini’ Pinera has taken to Unreal Engine 4 to faithfully show Nintendo’s star triple jump, side somersault and wall-jump his way through more realistic environments.

Pinera confirms that “all the environment assets were taken from the Unreal marketplace, all the character actions were scripted using blueprints only, all animations were re-created from scratch as well as the PBR ready textures.”

But Nintendo have been notoriously protective of their beloved star, and, while the video has been seen by nearly 1.5 million viewers, may step in to have it taken down. So, enjoy it while you can!
