NVIDIA has announced that Mario Kart Wii is the next game to release for NVIDIA Shield, with the classic racer being demoed on the streaming device at the 2018 China Digital Entertainment Expo & Conference.
With NVIDIA LightSpeed Studios presumably behind the port, Chinese Nintendo reports that those who have Super Mario Galaxy save data will immediately unlock Rosalina as a playable character.
Not only has the game been upscaled to render at 1080p, in a surprising move, especially considering the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection has been terminated, Mario Kart Wii will let 12 players race against each other online.
When Glu Mobile’s acquired GameSpy Technology in August 2012, the company soon stopped making their software available for licensing.
That news had soon forced Nintendo to make the decision to shut down the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service rather take responsibility for hosting it themselves, meaning that, for more than four years now, players have been unable to play games like Mario Kart Wii and Super Smash Bros. Brawl online.
