Bandai Namco Amusement America has announced that you can now play Mario Kart VR on HTC Vive at the historic Union Station in the Washington D.C. area.

This comes as the VR Zone Portal experiences from Japan and the United Kingdom come to the United States for the first time, where the kart racer is accompanied by other games in Argyle Shift and Ski Rodeo.

The VR Zone Portal will be open for six months, and, in Mario Kart VR, will let four players leap into the Mushroom Kingdom as Mario, Luigi, Peach or Yoshi.

With HTC Vive’s Tracker technology, players can reach up and grab classic items like Banana skins and Green Shells to hurl at their opponents – with haptic feedback helping to deliver a four-dimensional experience.

“Bandai Namco is thrilled to be a part of the innovative, cutting-edge project that is VR ZONE Portal,” Bandai Namco Amusement America national sales manager Steve Ignarski explains.

“The launches in Japan and the UK brought great success, and we hope to follow suit in Washington, D.C. Mario Kart VR is a long-awaited title and we have no doubt it will be well-received in the states, due to its incredible, immersive game-play and outstanding equipment from HTC Vive.”

These experiences will be featured for 6 months in a limited engagement at Union Station in Washington D.C., so you will want to make sure you get a chance to experience VR ZONE Portal for the first time in the states.
